Meditation

Meditation is basically an intense feeling personal & spiritual experience. It is mainly desired to channel normal walking consciousness into a more positive direction by just completely transforming one’s state of mind to another. To do a meditation is just to turn inwards, & to concentrate on the inner self.

The entire process of meditation usually includes three stages of concentration, meditation and enlightenment or we can say absorption. The mediator starts off just by concentrating on a certain point. Once we get success in getting engaged, concentration turns into the mediation, the mediator merges with the object of concentration which might either be the present moment or the Divine Entity.

In some branches of Indian Philosophy, we just concentrate on the direct perception of our inner self (mana) together with perception that is filtered through the five senses which we call as panch indriya which constitutes valid part of epistemology (pratyaksha jnana). And this self-realization or self-awareness (Paramahansa Yogananda), is nothing but the knowledge of the “pure being”-the Self.

As the Humanity is increasing & it’s basically turning towards various meditative techniques in order to cope with the increasing stress of modern day life styles. Unable to locate stability in the outside world, people are completely directed their gaze inwards in a bid to attain peace of mind. Modern psychotherapists have begun to discover various therapeutic benefits of meditation practice. To obtain the state of relaxation & altered state of consciousness –both will be induced by doing the meditation-that is basically effective in psychotherapy.

But more than anything else, meditation is being used as a personal growth device these days-for inculcating a more positive attitude towards life at large.

Mediation is not just a doing practice, but due to its spiritual element it is consider to be as the integral part of most religions. And we have a look the main objective of meditation it remains the same & are basically performed in a state of inner & outer stillness, they all vary according to their religious framework within which they are placed. Posture, Preparation, length of the period of meditation, particular verbal or visual elements- all contribute to some other different forms of meditation. Some of the popular methods are, Transcendental Meditation, yoga nidra, vipassana & mindfulness.
